Sample Answer (Band 8.0–8.5)

The table compares five countries in terms of the proportion of international visitors who travelled for cultural, adventure, business, family, or beach-related purposes in 2024. Overall, cultural and adventure tourism dominated in most destinations, while the United Arab Emirates received the highest share of business visitors.

In Japan and France, cultural tourism was the leading category, attracting 34% and 38% of visitors respectively. Adventure travel accounted for roughly one-fifth in both nations. Business and family trips were less common, at around 15–18%, and only about 12% of travellers visited beaches.

In contrast, the USA and Australia recorded higher percentages of adventure tourists, reaching 26% and 28%. Business travel represented about one-third in the USA but only one-fifth in Australia. Family holidays were relatively stable at approximately 12–20% across both countries.

UAE differed notably, with 30% of its international arrivals coming for business purposesnearly twice Japan’s share — while cultural and adventure tourism were less significant. Overall, the data suggests that Western countries attract tourists seeking culture and leisure, whereas the UAE focuses more on commerce and corporate travel.
